Thanks for the input and welcome. The lighting was actually one of the things I worked on first to match the rest of the design that it was an element of, and then it allowed me to only work on the detail that showed.
The client changed their mind and wanted to see it on a green backround and surprisingly the model still looked alright except the eye shader needed to be changed, and then finally, we went with a more realistic texture.
Since much of my use of 3D apps is for hire projects like this, the meshes unfortunately don't often get rigged/boned or get as much attention as I'd like. I've attached a clay render so you can see more of the mesh.
