Software companies should understand that when the user can learn the software quickly and well, the more popular the software becomes - and thus the sales increases. So it really is worth the investment - sadly after getting the deadlines it is a more of an after thought!
The movies in the Hex manual are wonderful - movement and seeing the tools in action is sooooo helpful.

Several years ago I had a small business and imported and exported design software for textiles. Also had to run the Helpline as well. From my experience I can say that not only the software has to be good, but the support (tutorials, manual and support) helped people to invest the money in the software. Back then there was not much internet. (At least now we can find complete communities and great tutorials.)

So if you want to market software well, invest in the learning materials. That is my advice!
