I saw on their site that they have a 60 day trial for OS-X (I think v.5), you might wanna try that. I agree €300 for an open beta is a stiff price, especially if you don't know whether it's for you or not.

As Cedric mentioned, it is a powerful program, with lots of features, but not as easy to use as say Carrara. For me the workflow in the beginning was a bit alienating, but now I am becoming friends with the program.

The main reason for me to keep going back to it was that it has both NURBS and SDS poly modeling options grouped into one package. Some things for me go more easy in NURBS than poly, even if the production precision is not needed. I cannot tell too much of the new features in v.6, it's still too new on my HDD.
