I have an old version of painter (9)... although I believe most of this stuff was done with even an older one. My PhotoShop is version 7... I don't know what "PD Pro" is.. (?)

Basically, I just do what I did with oils and watercolors... I use tint more than watercolor brush. I think it is mostly the eye, or as some say, it is the painter and not the brush (tool, computer, software, whatever). You can look here to see some of my non-computer work mostly pre-1990.

That is probably more true with the paint and draw apps than with the 3D apps.
Those force you to be knowledgeable of the specific tools, methods. Slinging paint is slinging paint - be it computer or conventional... I don't think the computer makes it any easier at all... Except for the cleanup and the mixing of paint... and you can get away with all sorts of stuff like mixing watercolors and oils - theoretically - (which would be a real trick with conventional paint.)

I've been slinging paint for over 40 years, but I don't feel qualified to do any tutorials - sometimes I do something about the way I do what I do.

--- Like Bwtr says, maybe those awesome artists at CGtalk can do the tutorials - I don't have those programs he mentions (what is "PD pro?") ---
