No, not at all, Medeamajic, but the galleries will give you an idea of what can be achieved with a bit of software. The rest is pactice, skill, inspiration and a lot of sweat, as I know you know! As for GUI, the few top-end 3d progs I've had a chance to look at seem quite complicated, so IMO Carrara is a very user-friendly place to practice 3d and produce very good quality illustrations.
Brian's right - if Affuso already has C5, then moving to C6 is not expensive and the improvements are worth the extra cash.
