| Seriously doubt that would ever happen
I read somewhere on the internet that this was originally modo's plan (to be acquired by Apple) so I don't think this idea is new.
I read that Apple declined the offer. I also read that the reason Apple most likely is not deeply involved in very many applications is because the application would need a very large user base to interest Apple. IMHO 3D applications are aimed at a very specific and relatively small user bases when compared to applications that have a more broad public interest, need, and use. When Apple does create software if you have noticed it usually focuses on their Mac users rather than Windows users. Again, this means smaller user bases. Software developers are wise to develop for as many operating systems as possible. (Sure, Apple could do it and have with Quicktime and iTunes --- both efforts help sell iPods).
Also considering what Apple does it does it beyond very good. Creating and developing a 3D application requires very specific skill sets. I believe Apple can make more money investing in their core markets than investing in something so far removed and unrelated.
Just my 2 cents,
Stan
