3ds ALWAYS triangulates. And it has a limit of 64k polygons per object.
Poser uses obj natively (mostly hidden from the user) so the best choice is to use obj files.

Bear in mind Poser user a very small case, which can be a problem in some 3d programs. It is customary to scale Poser objects before editing, and rescale them down before exporting to Poser.
