Lot of french people do not speak english that's the way things are... 
Sometimes myself i cannot understand everything when the english level (or it's american ?) raise, especially when some people are joking.
Having some contents or suggestions on his WIPs and being unable to understand it because it's not regular plain old english suitable for an automated translator is really frustating. Being unable to answer also is frustating.

On second thoughts, I'd go with Pete's suggestion and after reading Thomas' concerns:
"FYI, a lot of french are afraid of this merging, because of they think that the forum will become more and more "english speaking" and will lost it french personality."
However, the French side should not feel obligated to do so. I fully respect their wishes.
