I've always said this is what's next.
I never was crazy about Hi Def TV (not owning one of course) but now that I've purchased a DLP earlier this year, I got to see what all the hoopla was about - seeing the clarity is breathtaking at times.
But to me, we still need a
bigger change and THIS, 3D TV, I believe will be it. I remember as a kid looking into those
View Masters; seeing the deer standing there in the field - imagine playing games and watching movies at home with that 3D experience...
I dare say they'd have to actually
tone down the content at that point - I don't believe I could watch something like Alien Resurrection >for the first time< in
Hi-Def 3D! 
Honestly!
I joke with my wife telling her we prolly lost 3-years off our lives watching 5-seasons of
24 with all the STRESS

Imagine experiencing hi-def television in 3D! I know there will be some fanatics that will complain loudly if they don't
faint at least one time over a 3D movie they purchased!

PS - This to me ties in because once the glasses and TVs are common place, things like XBoxes and Playstations will be delivering the 3D content.
Being able to work in your ZBrush, XSI or Modo with a connector to these TVs is only a months away if all this stays on course - THIS imo is the next major jump that's needed for the human race - 3D display technology...
