1) Nothing good. What happens with dishes if all visitors will be allowed to access the kitchen to control head-cook in a real time?
2) Helps only if both packages share common set of features. For example, you can not export nurbs to Shade or Carrara from Amapi or MoI.
3) Universal tools will live forever. And will coexist with dedicated tools.
4) I presume dense meshes support in ZBR allows "pure" 2D artists not care too much about creating good topology.
I doubd somebody in 3D needs 900 MB obj for not too complicated shape. But I did such stupid thing when I played with ZBR, and I see nothing bad in having such margin of safety. If mudbox can handle such scenes, I'm happy for it.
