I can have the most expensive 3d app in the world and end up not producing anything from it. How many people (not big studios) who own any of these apps (Lightwave, XSI, Maya, Max) could even produce a 20 sec animation similar to one of Elephants Dream's? I just don't know of any to this day. Do you? |
I agree but buying extra book for application does not mean that this other app is more complicated.
Carrara doc is quite poor in its content : do you see
serious examples on "How to build a a shader", or "how unwrap a real objet".?

like the other embedded app doc, it's more a reference manual than a user's manual. That's where some extra books are usefull, as thay are focused on a particular subject.
With Carrara you can produce something fast, probably faster than most of the 3D app, but you when you want to go further, then you have to discoverer everything on your own.
Otherwise i strongely agree when you say than it's not the 3D app that makes the artist
