Smile ProceduralRainbowAnimation

Rainbow Tutorial

The main idea its create a Rainbow that is generated from a side towards the other using only C5 procedurals

Here we go...

In the Assemble room insert a new vertex objet

In the Model room go to Construct - Insert 3D - Sphere
The default 16-8 will work for us and choose the Z axis

Go to the Left View and select the middle polygon loop

Go to Selection - Invert Selection and delete that selection

Select the top edge loop and scale down -about a 80%-

Select all the mesh and scale to 0% in the Z axis

Select one half of the mesh ring and delete the selection

Select the mesh and go to the UV editor

Select the Scale tool and make the mesh fit in the gray square and click OK

In the Model Tab set smoth 1 for modeling and about 2 for rendering
Back in the Assemble room select the objet and rename it as Rainbow

Create a new Shader and name it Rainbow

Select your Rainbow objet and in the General Tab assign the Rainbow shader to it and click Edit
In the Texture Room select the color and insert a Color Gradient shader

Edit the shader to make a cool Rainbow color bar

In the new color subtree select Pattern Functions - Gradient

And change the direction to Horizontal

Now that we have the Rainbow its time to animate it
We need to use several mixers so keep an eye wide open

In the Alpha channel select Operators - Mixer
In the Source 2 and the Blender channels ad a Value (0-100%) with a 100% value in the Source 2 and a 0% in the Blender
Go back and in the Source 1 create another Mixer
In the new Source 1 ad a Value (0-100%) with a 0% value
In the Source 2 ad a Pattern Functions - Gradient with a Vertical direction
In the Blender ad a Value (0-100%) with a 0% value

Open the AnimationTab go to second 2 and change the first Blender Value to 100%

Go to second 4 and change the second Blender Value to 100%

Extend the AnimationTab and move the first keyframe of the Blender to match the second keyframe of the Source 1:Mixer

Go to the Assemble Room and set up the objet position for a test render

Go to the Render Room and select movie

Click on Render and watch how the Rainbow born in front of your eyes

You can get more control with an aditional mixer in the Gradient
just change that to this
- Source1 Value 0%
- Source2 Value 50%
- Blender Gradient
