You were recently able to buy TS 7.51 and Vray plus 22 courses (value 1.5k) for 600 euros. Caligari have deals like this all the time, just watch out for them, or get on their mailing list.
Also, you can't upgrade XSI foundation, and it's also missing many of the coolest XSI features. XSI is a nice package on paper, but if you're going to go down that road you should try to get the full thing imo. I've heard good things about foundation, but also some frustrations as well. Plus, they don't refund their software, so be careful.
TS doesn't come with physical manuals anymore as they're being updated regularly and printing is apparently too expensive.
Unfortunately this thread has become a gallery for Caligari haters. I suggest if anybody else wants to know more about it they should go to Ts's
