I hope this does not read as stamping on Romans fingers but I agree it seems a little strange to not supply the manual. However if you don't have $1000 then it doesn't matter whether it comes with a manual or not in reality. The 30 day offer is there and I have in the past needed to cash in to get my money back so I know they are good and prompt in doing that from experience.
I own Carrara 5 as well as now Truespace 7.5 with Vray 1.5. One thing that stands out to me is the render speed. The vray render engine is very fast and Carrara at a similar quality is ... well slow... very slow. I prefer Carrara for the interface by a mile but I prefer the new rigging tools in TS and the hair is a step in the right direction as well as the animation possibilites.
Do not expect to be able to just jump in and start creating with the same ease as Carrara. It just wont happen like that but I believe you could go much deeper into TS than Carrara as Carrara currently stands.
The issues I have had with TS were answered very quickly so far and although its still no where near perfect I believe it holds out more promise for me so far than Carrara.
I will continue to use Carrara for some things and I still look forward to seeing what C6 holds out for the future as I am a firm believer that no software does everything you need it to do.
Cheers
