Rendering in modo 203 final Sport Shoe tutor scene tooks on my PC about four and a half minutes when I use 2 threads, and it tooks little bit more than 8 minutes when I used one (almost linear). But final Wrist watch scene tooks 22 minutes and 65 minutes, respectively, so it is almost three times faster. Keep in mind that using one thread does not make my PC single-cored, and actual improvement on 2-thread configuration is even bigger.

Speaking seriously, it depends.
And if Luxology intend to compete with big bad guys in rendering big horrible scenes on big hot irons, they have to fix this issue. As you can see on the same page, mental ray shows 87%.
You didn't listen to Pete. System memory, HD spooling requirements, and many other things all can affect rendering time. And both of your examples seem fairly linear to me. I think a fair assessment could be made if we got full system specs, OS detail, software working in the background, etc on both systems..but even then it would not be fair. We need hardware and software that is linear as well, which likely you don't have.
