Maybe ya, in the end it doesn't matter as long as you're happy with it. I can't see any reason why anyone would want to model in the VM if they had Hex though, not one single reason at all.
fact is it just takes a lot of time and patience to learn how to model things and if you're willing to spend the time learning then you'll be happy.
