Hiya.
The HUGE bonus to using OpenGL is portability. That's why Hex is on Windows & on Mac...and why it could, theoretically, be ported to Linux (crosses fingers in a vain hope... ). DirectX is good...but, from what I hear from my programmer friends, is that the 'interface' of working with DirectX is a pain in the ass.
Anyway...I'd *MUCH* rather it stay OpenGL than get screwed up by DirectX. ...and don't even get me started on DX10 for Vista... ( http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut00...ista_cost.txt)...
