Select the cube, while picking the Align/Snap tool (a small pyramid with two point and an arrow between them), press CTRL (or Command on Mac): it will create a copy of the current selected object.
Then, inside the snap tool, select thepoint1, and then, click on the point 2: you will have a copy of the object on the point 2 based on point 1 position.

For the multiple copy, if you don't set a move between each copy, then, all your three copies are on the same place (and all the copies are in a groop, then, you think you are moving one object and not three !)
