Topogun is a very slick retopologizing tool. This is a significant addition to the 3D toolbox. Currently semi-working in the Silo beta (surface snapping), and promised in ZB 2.5, and sorta funky in Modo; topogun appears to be very robust and usable. Check out this video:

The idea is to create a base mesh true to your desired form without worrying about all quads and edge flow details, then subdivide and do your rough brush sculpt (hex, mudbox, ZB, silo). Then retopo with topogun and create a new base with all quads and correct edgeflow,
bake your high res data to the new mesh (with MB or some other utility), then refine your brush sculpt to a finished level. Then retopo the completed high density mesh to get a very clean base mesh that will support thru dislpacement or normal mapping the fine detail of the high res mesh. This may seem a bit much, but consider how much time (and sometimes compromising) it takes to create the initial mesh with correct edge loops and quads. Others will have their own workflow with this type of tool, but this type of tool will be very cool to have at your disposal.
