So I have tried the sculpting in the latest build of the CVS. And I must say sculpting is indeed faster than Hexagon. Level 6 is smooth and even navigation is smooth. In Hexagon a level 6 sphere would bog down. Blender sculpt seems to function a lot like Silo's implementation.

Some of the features:
  1. Smooth: smooths out the surface
  2. Grab: grab and area to move or shift
  3. Add: displace or pull the geometry
  4. Sub: push in the geometry
  5. Pinch: pinch geometry together
  6. Use a texture to displace.
  7. Brush strength is adjustable as is the brush size.

There are a few more interesting features, but those are the ones that I used.
